Performance Evaluation of Bidirectional Shear Model Container in Shaking Table Test of Layered Foundation
In order to meet the requirement of truncation boundary simulation in multidirectional shaking table test for granular material(such as soil),this paper designed and manufactured a layered bidirectional shear model container with adjustable stiffness.The shear model container is stacked by rectangular steel pipe frame,and the universal bearings and ball bearings are arranged between layers to realize a more real bidirectional coordinated movement.The stiffness adjus-ting device and the reset device ensure the container reset,movement consistency and integrity,and can meet the interlay-er shear deformation.The vibration table test of the layered foundation with soft upper and hard bottom was carried out by using the designed bidirectional layered shear model container.The boundary effect was quantitatively analyzed accord-ing to the boundary effect index and the 2-norm.The results show that the bidirectional shear model container can accu-rately simulate the ground motion characteristics of layered ground,and the boundary effect can be effectively controlled.
