Effect of Floating Vegetation Island Root Density and Overland Flow on Hydraulic Characteristics of Rectangular Open Channels
In view of the unclear influence of floating vegetation islands(FVIs)in rivers on the hydraulic characteris-tics,which is not conducive to river flooding and drainage, this paper conducts a study on the hydraulic characteristics of FVIs on rectangular open channels.Firstly,a three-dimensional hydrodynamic simulation model of a rectangular open channel with a FVI was constructed based on ANSYS-fluent software using a porous medium to generalise the FVI.Then, the feasibility of the model was verified using flume tests, and on this basis, the effects of the FVI root density and overflow flow on the hydrodynamic characteristics of the rectangular open channel water flow and its change pattern were explored. The results show that the flow velocity in the FVI section has an"S"-shaped three-zone distribution on the ver-tical line, and the increase of root density and overflow flow makes the three-zone distribution of flow velocity more sig-nificant;The turbulent kinetic energy and Reynolds stress are proportional to the root density and overflow flow of the FVI,in-dicating that the FVI root density and overflow flow have a greater influence on the hydraulic characteristics of the open channel.
