Advances in Understanding Metabolic Mechanism and Physiological Activity of Plant Protectors in Maize
The decline in crop yield and quality due to pathogen infection and insect damage pose a serious threat to food security.Phytoalexin,a secondary metabolite produced by plants in response to plant disease, plays a crucial role in resisting pathogen infection. The synthesis and regulation of phytoalexin are essential for stable plant development. The defense response mechanism of phytoalexin is complex and ongoing research is exploring the biosynthesis and regulatory mechanisms of plant protection. This review focused on recent research progress on phytoalexin, including its induction factors, species, physiological activities, and specifically highlights the current research status of maize phytoalexin. The review also discusses existing challenges and potential research directions in this field.
