Changes of Rodent Composition and Population Number in Agricultural Areas of Kaili City
In order to understand the species and composition of rodents and the changing law of population number in agricultural areas of Kaili City,in this study, the rat situation in Kaili City,Guizhou Province was continuously monitored from 2011 to 2023.The results showed that there were 50,733 traps in residential areas, paddy fields and dry areas, and 915 rodents were captured, with 9 species.Rattus norvegicus is the dominant species in residential areas, accounting for 96.18%,while Apodemus agrarius and R.norvegicus are the dominant species in agricultural areas(rice fields and dry areas),accounting for 64.27%and 18.82%respectively.A.agrarius and R.norvegicus are the focus of monitoring and control in this area. There are three population peaks of rodents in residential areas in January,March and October, and three population peaks in farmland areas in January,March and November. The population of rodents in residential areas and farmland areas is the highest in autumn and the lowest in summer.Therefore,March-May and August-October are the key periods for rodent control in agricultural areas in this region. These results provide scientific basis for rodent pest monitoring and prevention and control in agricultural areas.
