After the official implementation of the new"Sanitary Standard for Drinking Water"(GB 5749-2022)on April 1,2023,Zaozhuang Municipality faces new challenges due to the single urban and rural water supply source,backward purification facilities,inadequate water source protection,and laggard management and protection mechanism.By issuing action plans,Zaozhuang Municipality clears the main responsibility,adopts technical measures such as optimizing treatment processes,implementing pipe network transformation,scientific allocation of resources,making good use of financial policies,leveraging price levers,building information platforms,and carrying out departmental cooperation to comprehensively improve the urban and rural water supply security.
