Making a good water resources development plan and building a fine modern water grid are the top priority of water resources management work.This paper analyzes the background,basic concept,level connotation and overall framework of modern water grid planning,reviews and summarizes the four landmark evolution processes of water grid planning and construction in the provincial level of Shandong.As well,it expounds the stage objectives,overall layout,main construction tasks and construction scale of modern water grid planning in Shandong.Furthermore,it puts forward ten research topics which need to be further developed in the constructing of modern water grid,and proposes the development direction of Shandong modern water grid construction in future.This paper has guiding and referential significance to the compilation of water resources development plan and the construction of modern water grid in Shandong.
