摘要
近年来,一些媒体报道称我国第一座公共图书馆发端于清乾隆年间周永年创建的藉书园.本文梳理周永年生平经历及其与亲友往来书信记载,考证有关创办藉书园的文献记录,证实周永年并未办成藉书园,同时周永年所欲创建的藉书园亦并非当下意义的公共图书馆.
Abstract
In recent years,some media reports have claimed that the first Chinese public library originated from the Garden Library established by Zhou Yongnian during the Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty.The article reviews the life experience of Zhou Yongnian and his correspondence with friends,verifies the literature records relat-ed to the establishment of the Garden Library and confirms that Zhou Yongnian did not establish the Garden Library.At the same time,the Garden Library that Zhou Yongnian intended to create is not a public library in the current sense.
