In the process of providing picture book reading services in public libraries,picture book classifi-cation and shelving is not only the prerequisite for picture book collection but also the scientific basis for reading guid-ance and promotion.Through literature research and field investigation,the paper combs the good practices and cases of picture book classification and shelving in Chinese public libraries,and summarizes the main ways as follows:referring to the classification numbers of Chinese Library Classification,using identification symbols,setting up special bookshelves and dividing reading areas.On this basis,the advantages and disadvantages of the current classification and shelving method are analyzed,and then the optimization countermeasures are put forward,in order to provide reference for public libraries to improve the classification and shelving method of picture books.
