Collation and Study of Chaozhou Township Literature by Rao E and Rao Zongyi——On the Compilation of Chaozhou Art and Literature
Chaozhou Art and Literature is the joint crystallization of the Chaozhou township literature com-piled by Rao E and his son Rao Zongyi,and the Teochew people writings can be systematically cataloged into a book,which reflects the development of Chaozhou local academic culture.As a well-known academic master at home and abroad,Rao Zongyi has integrated China and the West,and attained profound achievements in many fields.The research on the collation of rural documents represented by Chaozhou Art and Literature has laid a solid foundation for his academic career.So far,his research on township documents covers the history of migration,Chao porcelain,Korean studies,excavated cultural relics,geographical evolution,local chronicles,historical sites and scenic spots,etc.,which has promoted the rapid development of"Chao Studies".By analyzing the compilation of Chaozhou Art and Literature from the perspectives of bibliographic scope,compilation style,book classification,compilation of doc-uments,writing language,and documentary value,we can get a glimpse of the bibliography and the academic methods of Qianjia school contained therein,and explore the contributions of Rao E and Rao Zongyi to the research of Chaozhou township literature.
