The Current State of Research on the Impact of Rare Earth Elements on the Corrosion Resistance of Stainless Steel
With the continuous development of industry,the global demand for high-quality steel has been increasing.Enhancing the corrosion resistance of steel has become a primary focus of current research efforts.Corrosion-resistant steel,known for its robust corrosion-resistant properties,finds wide-ranging applications in civil engineering,automobile manufacturing,shipbuilding,and other industries.To further augment the corrosion resistance of such steel,the addition of rare earth elements is a common practice.This article provides an overview of the purification effects of rare earth elements on corrosion-resistant steel,their impact on inclusions within the steel,and the advancements in research regarding their influence on the corrosion performance and rust formation.This review aims to offer a theoretical foundation for promoting the utilization of rare earth elements in steel.The specific mechanisms by which rare earth elements influence the corrosion resistance of corrosion-resistant steel and their sustainable development in materials engineering are currently the central areas of study.
