Experimental Study on Surface Inclusions in 409L Stainless Steel Continuous Casting Billets
To study the morphology, distribution, and category of inclusions on the surface of 409L stainless steel continuous casting billets, samples were taken and ground 1 mm each time before conducting inclusion detection. The detection results were compared and analyzed. It was found that the distribution of inclusions is characterized by randomness, and the size is mainly concentrated in 2-5 μm.The spatial distribution shows a decreasing number of inclusions with increasing depth, with fewer inclusions at the middle position compared to the two ends, and a slightly higher number of inclusions on the inner arc side than that on the outer arc side. The surface inclusions of the continuous casting slab are mainly 12CaO-7Al2O3 and a certain proportion of oxides,as well as a small amount of other types of inclusions.
