Study on the Microstructure and Properties of Boron-Containing Powder Metallurgy 316LN Stainless Steel
The effect of boron on the microstructure and mechanical properties of 316LN stainless steel was studied. The results show that the addition of boron can greatly improve the mechanical properties of stainless steel, boron can react with chromium molybdenum alloy element in stainless steel to form boride hard phase, and the strength and hardness of stainless steel can be significantly improved by solid solution strengthening. With the increase of boron content, the hardness of 316LN stainless steel increases. When the boron content is 0.4%,the hardness of sintered and heat-treated 316LN stainless steel is the highest, which is 82.3 HRB and 97.8 HRB respectively. The tensile strength of sintered and heat-treated specimens reached the maximum value, which were 542 MPa and 639 MPa respectively.
