Observation of the effect of sodium thiosulfate combined with calcitriol in the treatment of vascular calcification in maintenance hemodialysis patients
Objective To investigate the effect of sodium thiosulfate(STS)combined with calcitriol in the treatment of vascular calcification in maintenance hemodialysis(MHD)patients. Methods Sixty eight patients with MHD admitted to our hospital from May 2023 to May 2024 were randomly divided into two groups, with 34 patients in each group. The control group received calcitriol treatment, while the combination group received STS combined with calcitriol treatment.Compare two groups of vascular calcification[coronary artery calcification score(CASs)],biochemical indicators[blood phosphorus, blood calcium, parathyroid hormone(iPTH)],inflammatory factors[interleukin-6(IL-6),high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP)],and adverse reactions. Results There was no significant difference in the CASs scores between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05),and the CASs scores in the combination group were lower than those in the control group after treatment(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in biochemical indicators between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05),and after treatment, the biochemical indicators in the combination group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in inflammatory factors between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05),and after treatment, the inflammatory factors in the combination group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The use of STS combined with calcitriol in the treatment of vascular calcification in MHD patients can effectively prevent vascular calcification, regulate blood calcium and phosphorus balance, reduce iPTH levels, decrease inflammatory reactions, and do not increase adverse reactions. The treatment is safe and reliable.
