The influence of dietary intervention on blood glucose control and quality of life in elderly diabetic patients
Objective To study the effect of dietary intervention on blood glucose control and quality of life in elderly diabetic patients. Methods 162 elderly patients with diabetes who were received by Linyi City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2022 to October 2023 were randomly divided into the conventional group(conventional intervention)and the combined intervention group(ear point bean embedding combined with TCM syndrome differentiation diet based on routine intervention).81 patients each were treated for 8 weeks.Comparing the two groups of diet management effect before and after intervention(diabetic diet management scale),blood glucose index[fasting blood glucose(FPG),2h postprandial blood glucose(2h PG),glycated hemoglobin(HbA1c)],lipid glucose metabolism index[total cholesterol(TC),triacylglycerol(TG),low-density lipoprotein(LDL-C),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)],quality of life[diabetes-specific quality of life scale(DSQL)],and the incidence of adverse effects. Results After the intervention, knowledge, beliefs, behavioral dimensions, total score and HDL-C levels in the diabetes diet management scale both increased(P<0.05),and the combined intervention group was higher than the conventional group(P<0.05).After the intervention,FPG,2h PG,HbA1c,TC,TG,LDL-C decreased(P<0.05),and the combined intervention group was lower than the conventional group(P<0.05).Conclusion The therapeutic intervention combined with TCM syndrome differentiation can help the elderly diabetic patients to improve the effect of diet management, improve the metabolism of blood glucose and lipid and glucose, and also help to improve the quality of life.
