Clinical efficacy of lipoic acid injection combined with epalrestat in the treatment of type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy and its influence on nerve conduction velocity
Objective To investigate the effect of lipoic acid injection combined with epalrestat on patients with type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy and its influence on nerve conduction velocity and inflammatory response. Methods This study was a prospective study, the research objects:patients with type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy, the total sample size:97 cases, selection time:July 2020 to December 2022,they were divided into two groups:control group, experimental group(random number table method),the former included 48 cases and treated with lipoic acid injection;49 patients in the latter group were treated with epalrestat on the basis of the former group. The duration of treatment was 2 months. The indexes of the two groups were compared. Results After treatment, the total effective rate of the two groups(experimental group, control group)was 93.88%,compared with 79.17%,the former was higher, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The SNCV and MNCV of median nerve and common peroneal nerve in the two groups(control group, experimental group)were increased(after treatment compared with before treatment, within the group),and the latter was higher(after treatment, between the groups)(P<0.05).The serum levels of IL-8,IL-17 and TNF-α in the two groups(control group, experimental group)were decreased(after treatment compared with before treatment, within the group),and the latter was lower(after treatment, between the groups)(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(control group, experimental group)(12.50%vs 14.29%)(P>0.05).Conclusions Lipoic acid injection combined with epalrestat is effective in the treatment of type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy, which can reduce the inflammatory response and improve nerve conduction velocity, and has good safety.
