A comparative study of serum testosterone levels in male patients with schizophrenia and healthy people
Objective To compare the serum testosterone levels of male patients with schizophrenia and healthy people,in order to provide scientific reference for mastering the physiological sex hormone levels,revealing the physiological mechanism of the disease,and formulating diagnosis and treatment plans.Methods Fifty male patients with schizophrenia aged 30-70 years old(observation group,n=50)and 50 healthy men of the same age(control group,n=50)who were hospitalized in Shanghai First Mental Health Center of Civil Affairs from February 2023 to February 2024 were selected.Fasting serum testosterone levels were measured.To explore and analyze the serum testosterone levels of the control group and the observation group.Results The observation group had a significantly higher fasting serum testosterone level than the control group[(16.74±5.58)nmol/L vs.(13.06±4.35)nmol/L],P<0.05.Conclusion Compared with healthy people,the serum testosterone level of male patients with schizophrenia is higher,which can provide a certain basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
