The role of cell death in sepsis-induced kidney injury
Sepsis is a systemic inflammatory response syndrome caused by infection, accompanied by acute injury to multiple organs.Sepsis-induced acute kidney injury(AKI)is one of the most severe complications and may turn into chronic kidney disease(CKD).The pathophysiology involves a variety of cells, including renal vascular endothelial cells, tubular epi-thelial cells and macrophages. The associations between these cells and cell death are strongly associated with kidney injury induced by sepsis.Endoplasmic reticulum stress, mitochondrial dynamic imbalance and oxidative stress are the main causes of cell death.
