Synergistic effect and mechanism of epigallocatechin gallate and fluconazole against Candida albicans resistant isolates
Objective To investigate the synergistic anti-infection effect of epigallocatechin gallate(EGCG)combined with fluconazole on drug-resistant CA and its mechanism of action. Methods Six strains of drug-resistant CA were selected and evaluated by checkerboard microdilution test with fractional inhibitory concentration index(FICI).The effect of the combination of the two drugs on the growth of mycelia was observed by fluorescence microscope. Results By FICI evaluation,it was confirmed that EGCG combined with FLC had a very good synergistic action against drug resistant CA,and the synergistic effect of the two was probably related to the inhibition of mycelial growth. Conclusion EGCG com-bined with FLC has synergistic action against drug resistant CA,and the synergistic mechanism may be related to inhibition of mycelial growth.
