The phenolic acid content in flowers of Lonicera japonica Thunb.at different developmental stages
Objective To compare the phenolic acid content in flowers of Lonicera japonica Thunb.at various developmental stages and evaluate the medicinal value of these flowers, this study aims to providing a reference for determining the optimal harvest period. Methods HPLC-ESI-MS/MS was used to determine the contents of 12 phenolic acids. The differences in phenolic acid composition in flowers of Lonicera japonica Thunb.at different developmental stages were compared using multivariate statistical analysis. Results The total phenolic acid contents in flowers of Lonicera japonica Thunb.were ranked from highest to lowest as follows:erbai stage>sanqing stage>dabai stage>milei stage>yinhua stage>jinhua flower stage. Conclusion The contents of phenolic acids in flowers of Lonicera japonica Thunb.at different developmental stages showed significant differences. The contents of protocatechuic acid and chlorogenic acid methyl ester were higher in open flowers, indicating that open flowers have unique developmental and utilization value.
