Protective effect of flavonoids from Suaeda glauca on carbon tetrachloride-induced liver fibrosis in female mice
Objective To evaluate the protective effect of flavonoids from Suaeda glauca(SGF)on mice with liver fibrosis induced by carbon tetrachloride. Methods The qualitative analysis of components in SGF was carried out by a LC-MS/MS method. The mouse liver fibrosis model was induced by carbon tetrachloride. The serum levels of lipid, liver function, appearance and pathological changes of liver, the mRNA levels of matrix metallopeptidase 9(MMP-9),tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 1(TIMP-1)and collagen 1α1(Col1α1)were selected to clarity the effectiveness of SGF on liver fibrosis and the possible mechanism in mice. Results Thirty-five compounds were preliminarily identified in SGF.SGF effectively lowered the serum levels of lipid, improved the liver appearance, alleviated the pathological changes of liver, restored the liver function,down-regulated the mRNA levels of TIMP-1 and Col1α1,up-regulated the mRNA level of MMP-9 in mice induced by carbon tetrachloride. Conclusion SGF alleviates carbon tetrachloride-induced liver fibrosis in mice.
