Frailty is an age-related clinical syndrome characterized by a decline in multi-system physiological functions and increased susceptibility to stressors. The underlying molecular mechanisms of frailty remain incompletely un-derstood.Rodent frailty models can be classified into ① gene-edited developed on basis of disease-related pathology,and②non-gene-edited models that include frailty phenotype or frailty index assessment models and inducible models. This re-view summarized the research progress in rodent frailty models, and analyzes their advantages and disadvantages, and pre-liminary discussion of future development, hoping to provide a reference for frailty-related research.
