Experimental Study on Axial Compression Performance of Polyurea Reinforced Timber Columns
Polyurea is a green environmentally friendly coating, easy to spray, with good toughness, corrosion resistance and thermal stability. In order to study the effect of wood column reinforcement when polyurea is used as a reinforcement material, five specimens of wood columns with different reinforcement methods were designed and produced by changing the spraying method and thickness of polyurea, axial static loading test was carried out to analyse the damage morphology of each specimen and the mechanical properties such as specimen load and displacement curves, ultimate bearing capacity, displacement ductility coefficients and stiffness were analysed. The research results show that the polyurea and wood have good adhesion, and the polyurea coating can be synergistically loaded with the wood column to improve the mechanical properties of wood. The load carrying capacity and displacement ductility of wood columns are improved after polyurea reinforcement,in which the average ultimate load is increased by 21.33%~35.58%,and the average displacement ductility coefficient is increased by 4.17%~30.83%.The spaced spraying polyurea reinforcement has a greater effect on the enhancement of the load carrying capacity of wooden columns than the fully coated polyurea reinforcement of the column.
