Study on Properties of Self-compacting Concrete Reinforced with Silica Fume and Recycled Steel Fibers
To investigate the mechanical properties of self-compacting concrete reinforced with silica fume and recycled steel fibers,12 concrete specimens were prepared.Silica fume was used to partially replace cement at replacement rates of 0,8%,and 16%(by mass),and recycled steel fibers were added at proportions of 0,0.3%,0.6%,and 0.9%(by volume)to the mixture. The mechanical properties of the concrete were tested through compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, flexural strength, and impact strength. The results indicated that the introduction of silica fume and recycled steel fibers reduced the fluidity of fresh concrete while enhancing the compressive, tensile, flexural, and impact resistance of hardened concrete.Silica fume and recycled steel fibers exhibited a good synergistic effect in self-compacting concrete.Compared to the enhancement effects of silica fume and steel fibers on concrete, silica fume significantly improved the compressive strength of concrete, while recycled steel fibers were more effective in enhancing the tensile and impact resistance of concrete.
