Relationship of Different Photosynthetic Organ with Grain Yield of Different Wheat Varieties
Six wheat varieties were cut the leaf or awn or darkened the stem or ear to study the relationship of different photosynthetic organs with grain yield. The impact of different treatments on grain weight indicated that the leaf photosynthesis was positively correlated with leaf area, and the grain weight increased with the increase of leaf area. Ear photosynthesis contribution in different varieties was very different, that in order were middle - spike varieties, PH6200 (8) and PH4133 - 2, with 27.18% and 22.77%; large - spike variety; multi- spike variety, Taishan 23, with only 17.98%. The sheath photosynthesis had bigger effects on large -spike variety, Taishan 9818, multi -spike varieties, Jimai 21 and Taishan23, and had little effects on middle- spike varieties, PH6200(8) and PH4133 -2, and large- spike variety Nongda 8355. The contribution of storage materials to grain was bigger in 2 multi -spike varieties, Jimai21 and Taishan 23, with 24.74% and 38.46% respectively; while that was lower in large - spike and middle - spike varieties with 15.9% ~ 23.44%. Awn had some contribution to the grain weight of large -spike varieties, Taishan 9818 and Nongda 8355, and middle -spike varieties, PH6200(8) and PH4133 -2, with the contribution rate of 4.21% ~ 12.33%; while that had lower contribution to the multi - spike varieties, Jimai 21 and Taishan 23, especially Taishan 23 with the contribution rate of only 0.49%, almost negligible. It could be found that different photosynthetic organs and the same photosynthetic organs in different wheat varieties both had different effects on grain yield. The biggest contribution to grain weight was leaf for large - spike varieties, ear for middle - spike varieties, and stem, sheath and storage materials for multi -spike varieties.
