Effects of Different Fiber Diets on Growth Performance,Serum Indices,Intestinal Function in Broiler
The experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of three different sources of fiber on growth performance, serum indices, immunity organs, intestinal development and cecal digestive ability in broiler. It was expected to provide base data for selection and application of fibrous materials in production.A total of 480 one-day-old male ROSS 308 broilers were selected and randomly divided into 4 groups, and then fed for 42 days.Broilers in the control group were fed basal diet, and those in the other 3 groups fed the basal diet supplemented with 2%wheat bran, rice bran and distillers dried grains with solubles(DDGS),respec-tively.The results were as follows.Compared to the control group, the supplement of 2%wheat bran, rice bran, and DDGS significantly decreased the serum cholesterol level at 42 d(P<0.05).The rice bran and DDGS significantly increased the bursa of fabricius index at 42 d(P<0.05).The DDGS significantly increased crypt depth(CD),and villus height to crypt depth ratio(V/C)in duodenum and ileum CD at 42 d(P<0.05);rice bran significantly increased the villus height(VH),CD,and V/C in duodenum(P<0.05);wheat bran decreased jejunum CD at 21 d,and increased ileum VH and CD at 42 d(P<0.05).Wheat bran, rice bran and DDGS increased the cecalcellulase and xylanase activities during the growth period(P<0.05).The DDGS significantly increased the colonization of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium in cecum(P<0.05),and wheat bran decreased the colonization of Escherichia coli in cecum at 21 d(P<0.05).Both rice bran and wheat bran decreased the colonization of E.coli and Salmonella in cecum at 42 d(P<0.05).It could be con-cluded that all the three sources of fiber reduced serum cholesterol level and improved the activity of cecal di-gestive enzymes, but had different advantages in regulating the development of immune organs and small intes-tine,and colonization of cecal probiotics and pathogenic bacteria.According to the performance of various in-dicators,the combined use of a variety of functional fibers in the broiler diet was recommended to ensure the body immunity and intestinal health, and improving the efficiency of nutrient absorption and utilization.
