Expression Patterns of Soluble Sugar Metabolism and Transport Related Genes of Spring Chinese Cabbage
In this research, spring Chinese cabbage'Jijin'and'Huanai'were used to analyze the changes of soluble sugars and the expression patterns of related metabolic enzyme and transport protein genes during the entire development process. The results showed that during the development process of spring Chi-nese cabbage, total soluble sugar and glucose accumulated rapidly during the rosette stage and early heading stage, and glucose accumulation was dominant;fructose content rapidly increased in the midrib of the leafy head during the late period of the heading stage. The midrib of the rosette leaves and heading leaves were im-portant parts for accumulation of soluble sugars.Sucrose synthase gene BrSUS1 was closely related to soluble sugar accumulation in midrib of the two cultivars. The enzyme genes BrSUS5,BrSUS6,BrCNIV2 decomposing sucrose,as well as the sugar transport protein genes BrSUC4,BrTMT1,BrSWEET17 and BrERDL6-16,were actively expressed in the midrib, which participating to varying degrees in accumulation and distribution of sol-uble sugars in the two Chinese cabbage varieties. The expression level of BrERDL6-16 sharply increased in several tissues of the two cultivars at late heading stage, which might play a special role in promoting the de-velopment of Chinese cabbage leafy head. The results of this study could provide theoretical bases for regula-ting the accumulation and distribution of soluble sugars and the yield formation of Chinese cabbage at molecu-lar level.
