Identification of Pathogen Causing Fusarium Crown and Root Rot and Screening Resistant Varieties in Tomato
Fusarium crown and root rot(FCRR)is one of the most serious diseases threating protected tomato production in China. In recent years, the incidence of FCRR is increasing in the main producing areas of tomato in China.Cultivating resistant varieties is the most cost-effective method for preventing the disease. In this study, the pathogen was isolated from diseased tomato plants by tissue-isolation method.Based on morpho-logical characteristics, molecular identification and pathogenicity test, the causal pathogen was identified as Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.radicis-lycopersici(Forl).To explore the resistant varieties against Forl in produc-tion,the resistance of 32 varieties to Forl were identified through artificial inoculation at seedling stage and molecular marker-assisted identification of Frl gene. The results of inoculation showed 18 materials with resist-ance to FCRR,which was consistent with the identification results using molecular marker Frl-ZL.These se-lected varieties could be used in breeding or production of tomato with FCRR resistance.
