Progress of Research on Adversity Stress and Leaf Quality of Tobacco Based on Metabonomics
Metabonomics is a discipline that studies the change rule of small molecule metabolites pro-duced by organisms after environmental change. As an emerging omics technology,it has gradually developed after genomics, proteomics and transcriptomics. With the frequent occurrence of extreme weather in recent years, various adversity stresses have had serious impacts on growth, development and quality of tobacco,in-cluding the decline of tobacco quality and the changes of taste and aroma characteristics, etc. This article sum-marized the metabonomics research on tobacco defense response to stresses in recent years, covering biological and abiotic stresses. It was found that under stress conditions, the content of amino acids, flavonoids, sugars and other substances related to osmotic regulation and antioxidant activity in tobacco increased significantly. At the same time, the application researches of metabonomics in quality formation process of fresh and cured to-bacco leaves were also summarized. It was found that the metabolites of fresh tobacco leaves were greatly af-fected by geography and maturity, while that of cured tobacco leaves varied greatly among different varieties.High quality tobacco leaves showed the increase of secondary metabolites such as aroma compounds,carote-noid degradation products and siberane like substances, which could endow tobacco with unique aroma and flavor and was of great significance to quality improvement. Finally, the application of metabonomics in stud-ying tobacco stress biology and quality were prospected to provide new ideas for research on adversity stress and quality improvement of tobacco.
