Physiological Response to Salt Stress and Salt Tolerance Evaluation of Different Traditional Chrysanthemum Varieties
Nine traditional chrysanthemum varieties were used as test materials.Their plant growth and physiological characters were measured under salt stress at different concentrations(0,50,100,150,200 mmol/L NaCl),and their salt tolerance were evaluated by principal component analysis combined with mem-bership function. The results showed that with the increase of NaCl concentration, the growth of the nine tradi-tional chrysanthemum varieties was inhibited, and the plant height,above-ground dry weight and below-ground dry weight gradually decreased, while the root-shoot ratio based on dry weight gradually increased. The con-tents of chlorophyll a,chlorophyll b,total chlorophyll and relative water content in leaves showed decreasing trends. The content of malondialdehyde(MDA)and relative electrical conductivity(REC)of leaves showed increasing trends.Leaf proline content of Jinbei,Jingyan,Zihe and Tianxiayipin showed the trends of increas-ing first and then decreasing, while that of the other varieties showed increasing trends.Superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity of Jinbei,Zihe and Tianxiayipin increased first and then decreased, while that of the other va-rieties showed increasing trends.Peroxidase(POD)activity of Jinhongdabei,Yizhinongyan and Yinfengpiaol-ing in leaves increased gradually, while that of the other varieties increased first and then decreased.Compre-hensive analysis showed that the salt tolerance of the nine traditional chrysanthemum varieties was sequenced as Yinfengpiaoling>Yizhinongyan>Jinhongdabei>Yuanyanghe>Qingshuilian>Jingyan>Tianxiayipin>Zihe>Jinbei, indicating that the first three varieties could be used as candidate materials for genetic improve-ment of salt tolerance in chrysanthemum in the future.
