Effects of Allelopathy of Glehnia littoralis on Its Seed Germination and Seedling Growth
The study was conducted to explore the effects of Glehnia littoralis root grinding extract and rhizosphere soil extract on its seed germination and seedling growth,so as to preliminarily determine the exist-ence of allelopathic autotoxic effect of G.littoralis.In this experiment,0.05 g/mL G.littoralis root grinding so-lution(RT)and 0.50 g/mL rhizosphere soil extract(ST)were prepared, and then their effects on seed ger-mination,seedling growth and physiological and biochemical indexes were analyzed. The results showed that RT and ST had significant inhibitory effects on seed germination of G.littoralis.The seedling growth was also greatly affected, showing that the root length, plant height, root diameter and fresh weight mostly reduced sig-nificantly,the total chlorophyll content of the leaves decreased significantly, and the carotenoid content in-creased significantly.Under the two treatments, the maximum photochemical efficiency of PS Ⅱ(Fv/Fm),e-lectron transfer rate(ETR),potential activity of PS Ⅱ(Fv/Fo),photochemical quenching coefficient(qP)and actual photochemical efficiency[Y(Ⅱ)]of seedling leaves were obviously suppressed;the osmotic regu-lation system of seedlings was significantly affected, the contents of proline and soluble protein of the leaves in-creased significantly, and the content of soluble sugar reduced significantly;the antioxidant system of seedling leaves responded to the stress with significant decrease in superoxide dismutase activity, and significant in-crease in ascorbate peroxidase activity and malondialdehyde content. In conclusion, the allelopathic autotoxic substances were present in the root grinding extract and the rhizosphere soil extract, which affected the seed germination and seedling growth of G.littoralis, and the allelopathic autotoxic effect might be one of the main reasons for continuous cropping obstacle of G.littoralis.
