Genetic Parameters of Reproductive Traits in Tianmu Multiparous Sheep Estimated by Repeatability Model
The purpose of this study was to explore the genetic relationship between litter size at birth and litter mean weight per lamb born, total litter weight at birth and litter survival lamb number in Tianmu multiparous sheep,so as to further understand their reproductive performance and provide a theoretical basis for the cultivation of new breed. In this study,Tianmu multiparousl sheep from Zhejiang Sino Ecological Agri-culture Co.,Ltd.were used as subject,5 543 pieces of data on reproductive traits including litter size at birth, litter mean weight per lamb born, total litter weight at birth and litter survival lamb number were collected. The fixed effect on the reproductive traits of Tianmu multiparous sheep was analyzed using GLM program in SAS 9.2 software. The AI-REML algorithm in DMU software combined with the single/multiple trait repeat-ability model was used to estimate the genetic parameters of the four reproductive traits. The results showed that the heritability of litter size at birth, litter mean weight per lamb born, total litter weight at birth and litter survival lamb number were 0.007,0.014,0.006 and 0.012,respectively,showing low heritability. The genet-ic correlation between the reproductive traits ranged from-0.962 to 0.745,among which, litter size at birth and litter survival lamb number were highly negatively correlated with litter mean weight per lamb born(-0.962 and-0.605),and the other traits were positively correlated with each other. It could be seen that the above reproductive traits of Tianmu multiparous sheep were all low heritability traits, and the low birth weight caused by increasing the number of lambs could be compensated by feeding management, which would be ben-eficial for breeding of new breeds.
