Research Progress on Abiotic Stress Response in Pea
Most crops experience significant yield reduction when subjected to abiotic stress.Studying the changes of stress tolerance indicators and response mechanisms in crops under abiotic stress and exploring ways to improve plant stress resistance are of great importance for stabilizing and increasing crop yield,which are al-so crucial aspects of sustainable agricultural development.As one of the oldest domesticated species,pea is ex-tensively cultivated due to its strong tolerance to abiotic stress such as low temperature,drought and salinity.Additionally,pea also has high economic value as a grain,vegetable and forage crop.This article reviewed the response mechanisms of pea to abiotic stress such as drought,salinity and low temperature,the changes in morphological structure and stress tolerance indicators under abiotic stress,as well as the approaches to en-hance their stress resistance.The study of multi-stress interaction,pea epigenetics and abiotic resistance gene mining and utilization which should be emphasized in future researches were analyzed and prospected,hoping to offer guidance and reference for pea breeding in the future,and strengthen the theoretical basis for enhan-cing researches on pea resistance to drought,salt,low temperature and other abiotic stress.
