Status of HPV infection and age-specific prevalence and distribution of viral genotypes among 18237 women in Weifang
Objective To explore the status of human papillomavirus(HPV)infection and age-specific prevalence and distribution of viral genotypes among women in Weifang area, and to provide reference to optimize cervical cancer screening and prevention and control strategies for women in this area. Methods A total of 18 237 women who under-went HPV testing in one Class A tertiary hospital in Weifang were selected as subjects, including 1 684 cases aged≤25,5 374 cases aged 26-35,4 629 cases aged 36-45,4 459 cases aged 46-55,and 2 091 cases aged>55.PCR-reverse dot hybridization typing technology was used to detect HPV genotypes. The prevalence and genotype distribution of HPV were analyzed and compared among different age groups. Results The total HPV infection rate was 25.09%,of which single infection and multiple infections accounted for 70.65%and 29.35%,respectively.The infection rate of high-risk HPV(HR-HPV)was 21.43%,accounting for 85.42%of all HPV infected cases. The top five HR-HPV genotypes were HPV16(4.33%),HPV52(4.30%),HPV58(2.93%),HPV53(2.67%)and HPV51(2.32%).The infection rate of low-risk HPV(LR-HPV)was 6.97%,and the top three LR-HPV genotype were HPV81(2.36%),HPV42(2.05%)and HPV43(1.45%).The infection rates of the total HPV,HR-HPV and LR-HPV among age groups were statistically different(all P<0.05),and showed a"U"-shaped distribution. The highest infection rate group was women≤25 years old, followed by the group>55 years old.Of the ten main HR-HPV genotypes,9 exhibited statistically differences for prevalence among different age groups(P<0.05).However,individual genotypes displayed some differences for age-relat-ed trends. Conclusions The HPV infection among women in Weifang is dominated by single infection or HR-HPV geno-type infection. The five common HR-HPV genotypes are HPV16,HPV52,HPV58,HPV53 and HPV51.Different age groups show different characteristics for HPV genotype distribution.
