Exploring the Capital Replenishment Path of Small and Medium-Sized Banks
There are over 4 000 small and medium-sized banks in China. They play a significant role in serving local areas and assisting the development of small and micro enterprises. However, small and medium-sized banks generally have characteristics such as small scale, single product types, and insufficient management experience. The pressure of capital adequacy ratio has always been a stumbling block to their development. In recent years, the external competitive environment of small and medium-sized banks has become increasingly severe, with shrinking market space, declining asset quality and weakened profitability. The combination of these factors has further increased the difficulty of capital replenishment and ensuring operational safety for small and medium-sized banks. Therefore, this article conducts the research on how small and medium-sized banks can reasonably choose capital replenishment methods based on their own business development characteristics. It proposes three suggestions to adopt short-term external financing replenishment,long-term internal accumulation, and improve risk resilience to reduce the scale of risky assets.
