Serving"made in China",with a deep focus on the top ten key industrial areas,carrying out special actions to supply and strengthen the supply chain,these have made specialized and innovative"little-giant"enterprises emerge.How to cultivate"little-giant"enterprises has become an important issue discussed in the academic community.The article is based on panel data from 271 prefecture level and above cities from 2019 to 2022,and uses a two-way fixed effects model and a mediation effect model to empirically study the cultivation effect and path analysis of entrepreneurial spirit on specialized and innovative"little-giant"enterprises.The results indicate that entrepreneurial innovation and entrepreneurial spirit can promote the cultivation of specialized and innovative"little-giant"enterprises,and this conclusion still holds after a series of robustness tests firstly.Secondly,there is regional heterogeneity in the cultivation of specialized and innovative"little-giant"enterprises by entrepreneurial spirit.It is mainly manifested in the fact that the estimated coefficient of entrepreneurial spirit in cultivating specialized and innovative"little-giant"enterprises is significantly higher in the eastern and central regions than the western region.Thirdly,the entrepreneurial spirit indirectly promotes the cultivation of specialized and innovative"little-giants"by improving the level of regional economic development.
