Blended Adsorbents Based on Weak Interaction Forces for Removing Hexavalent Chromium Ions
This study prepared a new type of coagulant using weak interactions such as hydrogen bonding and van der Waals forces between polyethylene glycol(PEG)and tannic acid(TA).With the assistance of Fe2+,Cr(VI)can form precipitates under neutral conditions. The mass concentration of Cr(VI)can be reduced from 100 mg/L to<0.1 mg/L within 2 hours. And the amount of Fe2+ used has been reduced to one-third of the current industrial technology. The removal process involves various interactions such as oxidation-reduction chelation, charge interaction, and physical encapsulation.Due to mild reaction conditions and high removal efficiency,it is expected to become a new type of chromium removal technology with great application prospects.
