Comparison of Adsorption Characteristics of Three Zeolite Materials for Ammonia Nitrogen in Water
In response to the high concentration and difficulty in reducing ammonia nitrogen in aquaculture wastewater, three types of zeolite materials were selected for experiments to investigate the adsorption characteristics of the selected zeolite materials for ammonia nitrogen in water. The results showed that the adsorption of ammonia nitrogen in solution by three zeolite materials was mainly chemical adsorption. The equilibrium adsorption capacities of zeolite A,zeolite B,and zeolite C were 2.98 mg/g±0.05 mg/g,4.52 mg/g±0.03 mg/g,and 3.83 mg/g±0.01 mg/g,respectively.Zeolite B had the best adsorption effect. The increase of zeolite dosage and initial solution concentration can both improve the ammonia nitrogen removal rate, but the unit adsorption capacity will decrease with the increase of zeolite dosage and increase with the increase of initial solution concentration. When the pH value of the solution is 6,zeolite A has the highest ammonia nitrogen removal rate and adsorption capacity, reaching 3.44 mg/g.Both zeolite B and zeolite C have the highest ammonia nitrogen removal rate and adsorption capacity, reaching 4.88 mg/g and 4.69 mg/g,respectively,when the pH value of the solution is 9.
