Extraction and Antioxidant Activity of Total Phenols From Leaves of Lonicera japonica Thunb
Total phenols are the main active ingredient in Lonicera japonica leaves. This study used L.japonica leaves as materials, ethanol as a solvent combined with ultrasonic assisted extraction of total phenols. The influence of three single factors of ethanol concentration,solid-liquid ratio, and extraction time on the extraction yield of total phenols from leaves of L.japonica was investigated. The technological factors affecting the extraction yield of total phenols from leaves of L.japonica was optimized by orthogonal method. The antioxidant activity was evaluated through the scavenging effect of total phenols from leaves of L.japonica on 1,1-diphenyl-2-trinitrophenylhydrazine(DPPH·).Results showed that the optimal conditions of extracting total phenol from leaves of L.Japonica was ethanol concentration 70%,solid/liquid ratio 1:60 and extracting 30 min.Under these conditions the yield of total phenols was 9.18 mg/g.At this time, the DPPH·free radical scavenging rate of the total phenols from leaves of L.Japonica reached 90.79%,indicating strong antioxidant ability.
