Analysis of Heavy Metal Pollution in Soil Near a Power Plant
The concentrations of heavy metals As,Cd,Cr,Cu,Hg,Mn,Pb and Zn in surface soil around a coal-fired power plant in Guangdong Province were determined. The distribution characteristics and pollution degree of heavy metals in soil were analyzed. The results showed that the average content of several heavy metals measured in the soil around the power plant exceeded the background value of the soil in Guangdong Province. The classification results of single factor index and Nemerow pollution index showed that the soil around the power plant was generally polluted by heavy metals,Cr,Cu,Mn,Pb,Zn,Hg and As were mildly polluted, while Cd was severely polluted and moderately polluted. Moreover, the pollution of soil around the power plant was closely related to the coal burning of the power plant. The results of correlation analysis show that As,Hg,Cd and Pb around coal-fired power plants may have the same pollution sources.
