Research on THMs Removal Technology from Tap Water Based on Activated Carbon Adsorption
The byproduct of chlorine disinfection of tap water is trichloromethane(THMs),which is mainly composed of CHCl3,CHBr3,CHBr2Cl,and CHBrCl2,and has a certain carcinogenic risk.To ensure the safety of urban water supply, activated carbon adsorption technology can be used to remove THMs.The research process compared the adsorption performance and screened out four types of activated carbon materials, and then selected the activated carbon with the best adsorption effect through static adsorption experiments.Under different temperature and initial concentration conditions, the removal rate of trichloromethane by activated carbon was tested. The results showed that increasing the temperature could improve the removal effect. When the initial concentration was high, the amount of activated carbon should be increased.
