Comparison and Selection Study of A2/O and A/O Biological Treatment Processes in Wastewater Treatment Plants
This paper first analyzes two widely used biological treatment processes,A2/O and A/O,in the field of wastewater treatment. It then evaluates two wastewater treatment plants in a specific area of Jilin Province that operate using A2/O and A/O processes, comparing the main structures and electromechanical equipment of both systems. Finally, based on the treatment of 10,000 m3/d of wastewater, this study investigates the life cycle assessment inventories of the two processes. The results indicate that the A2/O process, due to its unique structural design and reaction mechanism, exhibits higher treatment efficiency and lower environmental burden compared to the A/O process at various stages of wastewater treatment.
