Development of Steel for High Toughness Tower Cranes
A low-carbon niobium titanium microalloyed 600 MPa tower crane steel was designed and developed, and the microstructure of the strip was observed using an optical microscope. The results indicate that the microstructure of the high toughness steel is mainly composed of acicular ferrite and granular bainite. The physical properties of the steel were tested through tensile testing and Charpy impact testing, and its mechanical properties met the design requirements. There was no obvious layering phenomenon on the tensile fracture surface, and the low-temperature impact toughness at-20 ℃ reached over 200 J.
