Effect of Solution Time on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of As-cast AZ91D Magnesium Alloy
Magnesium alloy is greatly affected by heat treatment in the metallurgical process.Solid-solution AZ91D alloy was obtained by controlling the solution time of as-cast magnesium alloy, and the microstructure and mechanical properties of the obtained magnesium alloy samples were tested. The results show that there are many dendrite structures in the as-cast matrix, containing many large size aMg phases, and a large number of net β phases formed at the grain boundaries. With the increase of solution time, larger grain size is formed and the mechanical strength of the material is reduced. After solution treatment, the hardness decreases further with the increase of solution time. The tensile strength and compressive strength increased after solution treatment, and the mechanical strength of AZ91D alloy obtained after 6h extrusion increased by more than 20%.This study lays a theoretical foundation for the subsequent strengthening of magnesium alloys.
