Effect of Hot Extrusion Rate on Microstructure Evolution of Mg-6Zn-0.5Gd-0.1Nd Magnesium Alloy
A kind of Mg-6Zn-0.5Gd-0.1Nd magnesium alloy was designed, and the mechanical strength was improved by hot extrusion. The effect of extrusion speed on microstructure was studied by means of experiment. The results show that many small size recrystallized grains and some structure with strip shape are formed in the alloy. The phenomenon of dynamic recrystallization occurred in the process of extrusion. When the extrusion rate was increased,a higher proportion of dynamic recrystallization structure was formed. In the extruded alloy,MgZn2 phase is formed,Mg3YZn6 phase and Ca2Mg6Zn3 phase are formed. This study lays a theoretical foundation for the subsequent study of mechanical properties of metallurgical samples.
