Taking the spiral bevel gear used in construction machinery made of 20CrMnTiH steel as an example,after heat treatment,it was found that some gear tooth tips had irregular flesh loss defects.By using methods such as macroscopic observation,chemical composition analysis,hardness testing,metallographic examination,scanning electron microscopy,and energy spectrum analysis,the causes of defects were analyzed.The results showed that the gear shedding defect was caused by the collision of different metals during the turnover process after tempering.
