Study on Influence of High Temperature Diffusion on Contact Fatigue Life of GCr15 Bearing Steel
Contact fatigue tests were conducted on samples made from the same batch of billets in a steel plant using different high-temperature diffusion processes of 6 hours and 15 hours. The failure sites of the failed samples were dissected and the failure source points were analyzed. The experimental results show that the carbide particles produced by the 6-hour high-temperature diffusion process are significantly larger than those produced by the 15 hour process, and the degree of carbide particle aggregation is higher. The overall contact fatigue life of the sample using the 6-hour high-temperature diffusion process is significantly shorter. This study provides direction for carbide control in the production process of raw materials.
