Analysis and Control of Nozzle Blockage in ER70S-G Small Billet Continuous Casting of Welding Steel
This article investigates the problem of submerged nozzle nodules that are prone to occur in the production process of ER70S-G welding steel with w(Ti)0.12%~0.25%using small billet continuous casting. The main component of nodules in the water outlet is A12O3 Al2O3·MgO and TiO2.Analyzing the number, size, and composition of inclusions in molten steel during smelting and continuous casting processes,as well as the number of furnaces with clogged water outlets, indicates a higher proportion of small and medium-sized inclusions in the later stages of refining and ladle casting, indicating poor effectiveness in removing inclusions and protecting molten steel during casting.Measures such as increasing the endpoint C content of the converter, reducing the amount of AlFe added, changing the titanium alloying method, sealing the intermediate ladle and blowing argon at the nozzle were taken to reduce inclusions in the molten steel, solve the problem of nozzle nodulation in ER70S-G small billet continuous casting, and achieve smooth casting, which can smoothly produce qualified ER70S-G billets.
