Stability Analysis of Expanded Tailings Pond Based on Monte Carlo Method
In order to analyze the stability of the newly built tailings dam storage area and the original storage area, taking a certain expanded tailings dam as a case study, considering the discreteness and randomness of the soil, the Monte Carlo method was used to analyze the static and dynamic stability of the expanded tailings dam storage area. The results indicate that the Monte Carlo method uses normally distributed material parameters calculated instead of fixed values, resulting in a higher safety factor compared to the Newmark method and the Swedish arc method. The impact of seismic waves with different waveforms on the displacement of tailings ponds varies. When the beach surface of the newly built reservoir area accumulates to the initial dam crest of the original reservoir area, the maximum total displacement under the action of El Centro waves is 4.90 cm,and the maximum total displacement under the action of Taft waves is 2.20 cm.It is feasible to combine Monte Carlo method with Swedish arc method and finite element strength reduction method to predict the stability of newly built tailings dam storage area.Meanwhile,in the actual process, attention should be paid to earthquake detection and early warning work.
