Correspondence between Morphology and Genesis of Linear Defects on the Edge of Low Carbon Steel
In order to study the correspondence between the morphology and genesis of linear defects on the edge of low carbon steel, four types of linear defects of 2050 production line of a steel plant were selected for metallographic examination, scanning electron microscopy and energy spectrum analysis. The results show that the black line on the edge is a double-sided opening with no extension of the crack,The long strip shell defect is a double-sided opening with cracks extending to both sides. The short strip shell defect is a double-sided opening with cracks extending to both sides. The interrupted strip shell defect is a single-sided opening with cracks extending inward. The analysis shows that the black line on the edge is caused by finishing rolling scratch, the long strip shell defect is caused by the involvement of the protective slag of continuous casting, the short strip shell defect is caused by alumina inclusion, and the interrupted strip shell defect is caused by the rubbing of the side guide plate before finishing rolling.
