The process of Chinese urbanization has brought opportunities and challenges to the development of old blocks,with noticeable issues such as traffic congestion,spatial inactivity,and outdated infrastructure.With the gradual transfor-mation of urban space from incremental construction to stock optimization,the renewal and renovation of old blocks,as an important component of stock space,has become one of the focuses of urban construction work.The article selects the weaving theory that conforms to the trend of urban renewal and development fromperspective of stock optimization.In re-sponse to the problems of road traffic,street space,functional formats,and cultural attributes of Fengmen Hengjie Street in Suzhou,the weaving elements for its renewal and transformation are summarized,and material and cultural weaving strategies are proposed.The article is conducive to improving and developing the application of weaving theory in small-scale progressive renewal of old urban blocks and sustainable development,providing more basic theories and scientific ba-sis for the renewal of old urban blocks.
